Once again, we learn that President Donald Trump was exactly right about yet another major issue facing our country, namely, the national security threat posed by Chinese electronics. During his term, Trump warned that Chinese telecom and technology companies were selling American firms equipment that could then be used by ChiCom intelligence to gather information on our military. Naturally, he was laughed at by the media and deep state elite just like when he correctly claimed that Barack Obama's regime was 'wiretapping' his New York Trump Tower office. A CNN report this week noted that not only was Trump right, but the extent to which he was right is truly shocking. According to the outlet, which reported the findings exclusively, in 2017 the Chinese government offered to spend $100 million for the construction of an “ornate Chinese garden” at Washington, D.C.’s National Arboretum. The project was to include temples, pavilions, and a 70-foot white pagoda. Local officials were very excited about the project they estimated would attract thousands of tourists to the exhibit annually. “But when US counterintelligence officials began digging into the details, they found numerous red flags. The pagoda, they noted, would have been strategically placed on one of the highest points in Washington DC, just two miles from the US Capitol, a perfect spot for signals intelligence collection, multiple sources familiar with the episode told CNN,” the network reported. “Also alarming was that Chinese officials wanted to build the pagoda with materials shipped to the US in diplomatic pouches, which US Customs officials are barred from examining, the sources said,” the report added, noting that the project was quietly canceled by federal officials prior to the beginning of construction. Worse, the project reflected a rapid escalation of espionage operations by the ChiComs on U.S. soil that really began in earnest some 10 years ago. But beyond the pagoda project, CNN noted that the FBI and other U.S. intelligence services learned additional shocking details regarding Beijing's threat, namely, that Huawei cellphone tower equipment used by companies for projects that were installed near sensitive U.S. military bases is a threat to our nuclear weapons. CNN reports: Among the most alarming things the FBI uncovered pertains to Chinese-made Huawei equipment atop cell towers near US military bases in the rural Midwest. According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, the FBI determined the equipment was capable of capturing and disrupting highly restricted Defense Department communications, including those used by US Strategic Command, which oversees the country’s nuclear weapons.  “This gets into some of the most sensitive things we do,” one former FBI official with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. “It would impact our ability for essentially command and control with the nuclear triad. That goes into the ‘BFD’ category. Concerns about Huawei equipment date back to the Obama regime, but Trump brought the threat to the forefront when he took action against the company -- and China. Trump sounded the alarm about the Huawei gear and took actions, along with Congress, to ban its use. In May 2019 he signed an executive order “allowing the Commerce Department to stop U.S. companies from doing business with companies ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of a foreign adversary, clearing a path to bar transactions with Huawei, the Chinese telecom giant that officials have labeled a national security threat,” Roll Call reported. The order also “declares a national emergency with respect to the threats against information and communications technology,” according to a statement from then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. But here's the problem: In 2019, Congress provided nearly $2 billion in funding for companies to replace their Huawei equipment, but very little of it has been dispersed, meaning there are factions within the Biden regime that are holding up those funds. The question is...why? Sources include: RollCall.com CNN.com
