Kentucky Democrat: Voters are sick of seeing their taxes go to Ukraine; intellectually bankrupt officials are making nuclear war a reality
Democratic gubernatorial candidate for Kentucky Geoff Young noted that the voters he has spoken to
are "sick" of seeing their tax dollars go to Ukraine, and warned that "intellectually bankrupt" politicians in Washington
have made nuclear war a realistic possibility.
In an interview with
RT, Young said the time has come for the United States to cut off the supply of arms to Kyiv. Unfortunately, Young isn't holding out hope for federal officials in Washington to come to their senses, believing they are "separated from reality." (Related:

"I think most of them are severely deluded about reality by decades of anti-Russian propaganda in our mainstream media," said Young, pointing to Congress focusing on other priorities, including so-called climate change, which he called "totally irrelevant … at this moment when humanity is threatened by a
possible nuclear war."
Young is currently up against incumbent Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear for the Democratic Party's nomination for the 2023 governor's race. Last year, Young ran as the Democratic nominee for Kentucky's sixth congressional district, running as a self-styled "Peace Democrat" due to his position against American participation in the conflict. He did not receive Beshear's endorsement due to claims that
he "parroted propaganda" regarding the special military operation in Ukraine.
Young's position regarding the conflict in Ukraine puts him at odds with virtually every notable member of the Democratic Party, including Beshear, who was recently banned from stepping foot in Russia due to his support for anti-Russian sanctions. Young is joined by only a minority of elected officials, including 11 Republicans in the House of Representatives who sponsored legislation to stop the flow of arms to Ukraine.
Biden using Ukraine conflict to strengthen America's grip over Europe
Young further pointed out that, aside from using Ukraine as its main proxy in a war against Russia, the administration of President Joe Biden is using the war to "strengthen Washington's hold over our European so-called allies."
According to Young, one of the main ways this overarching American goal has spread to Europe is the sabotage of the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines.
"The Nord Stream bombing was a part of that strategy, designed to make Germany, the largest economy in Europe, totally dependent on the U.S.," said Young. "For decades, Washington's biggest nightmare has been that Germany and Russia would ally, have their economies complement each other … and make the United States irrelevant.
America's involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines is well known. American journalist Seymour Hersh recently pointed out how the sabotage incident was likely conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Navy.
Hersh noted that the attack was largely intended to remove Germany's ability to lift its own sanctions on Russia and resume the wholesale purchasing of Russian gas, which is significantly cheaper than if Germany were to export liquefied natural gas from the United States.
While the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines was perhaps the most significant event in America's goal to keep Europe within its sphere of influence, Young noted that the ongoing and ever-expanding list of anti-Russian sanctions that the U.S. and its European allies have enacted have also been a significant part of Washington's strategy.
Unfortunately for the White House, these sanctions have had little effect. But Young noted that the West is still pushing for more sanctions against Russia out of what he called "incompetence."
"Our leaders are intellectually bankrupt," he said. "They don't know what they can accomplish and what they cannot accomplish. Fundamentally, they're stupid, and they don't have any other ideas."
