Almost every single Republican governor of the United States
has pledged to support Texas in securing its border with Mexico.
This pledge was made in response to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's appeal for assistance
following the expiration of Title 42, which allowed for the quick expulsion of non-citizens who entered the U.S. illegally during the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic due to the possibility of illegals spreading the virus. (Related:

With the end of Title 42, an estimated 150,000 people from all over the world are now converging in Mexico and waiting for their turn to illegally enter the U.S. Over seven million illegals had already been apprehended or reported evading capture by law enforcement since President Joe Biden entered office.
Abbott urged the nation's 49 other governors to step in
to help his administration amid what he described as the complete absence of the federal government.
"We, as governors, must band together to combat President Biden's ongoing border crisis and ensure the safety and security that all Americans deserve," he wrote in his appeal to the other governors. "Join us in the mission to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity and send all available law enforcement personnel and resources to the Texas-Mexico border to serve alongside our thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers."
Phil Scott of Vermont only GOP governor to not sign up to the pledge of support
Twenty-four of the country's 25 Republican governors (excluding Abbott) answered the call. These are the governors of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
The only Republican governor to not sign up to the pledge to support Texas' border is Gov. Phil Scott, the self-described
liberal Republican governor of the extremely left-wing state of Vermont.
Not a single Democratic governor has responded to Abbott's appeal for aid. The Democratic governors of the three other states that share a border with Mexico – Arizona, California and New Mexico – have not made similar requests as Abbott's for aid in their borders.
"The federal government's response handling the expiration of Title 42 has represented a complete failure of the Biden Administration," wrote the 24 governors in a joint statement. "While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe."
Several of the governors have already followed through on their pledges. Gov. Tate Reeves of Mississippi has dispatched troops from the Mississippi National Guard to Texas to help combat cross-border drug and human trafficking.
"Every state has become a border state, and every day we're seeing the terrible impact of this humanitarian and
national security crisis," said Reeves. "What happens at the border doesn't stay there. Drugs and people are trafficked to every state in the nation – including Mississippi."
Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said he was deploying available Florida law enforcement and National Guard personnel to the border.
"The impacts of Biden's
border crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government's abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law," said DeSantis. "While Biden ignores the crisis he created, Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to this crisis."
