Russia investigating Ukrainian firm linked to Hunter Biden for financing terrorist attacks
Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian firm linked to the Biden family, is currently being investigated by Russian authorities for financing terrorism.
The name has been a regular fixture in news stories about the Biden family’s corruption. The
Ukrainian energy firm placed Hunter Biden and his business partner, Devon Archer, on its board of directors for no clear business reason with generous pay of $1 million per year at a time when Joe was Vice President and overseeing Washington’s Ukraine policy.
When Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, Viktor Shokin, started investigating Burisma for corruption, Biden pressured the Ukrainian government to fire the prosecutor by threatening to withhold loan guarantees from the U.S.
The
current probe into Burisma is related to a complaint filed by a group of Russian lawmakers following the deadly attack last month on concertgoers at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. The attack killed 143 people, and although ISIS took responsibility for it, Russia believes that Ukraine was behind it. Russian authorities maintain the U.S. and its allies have been carrying out attacks on Russian soil.
Spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko noted: "It has been established that the funds received through commercial organizations, in particular the Burisma Holdings oil and gas company that is operating in Ukraine, have been used over the past few years to carry out terrorist acts in Russia, as well as abroad, to eliminate prominent political and public figures and cause economic damage."
She said the committee is working with other types of intelligence services, including financial intelligence, and looking into the sources of income and the movement of money amounting to several million dollars. They are also investigating the involvement of “specific individuals from among government officials, people with civic and commercial organizations of Western countries.”
Hunter sat on Burisma's board from 2014 to 2019 in what is widely believed to be another example of
Biden family corruption and an attempt by the company’s executives to gain favor with the Obama administration.
The investigation into Burisma is part of a broader criminal probe into high-ranking officials from the U.S. and other NATO countries for bankrolling terrorism.
Russia insists Ukraine was behind concert hall terrorist attack
The attack at Crocus City Hall has been a major point of controversy. The suspected gunmen were detained and have already appeared in court; they are all citizens of Tajikistan, and one admitted their plan after the attack was to head toward Kiev. However, the fact that they were clearly tortured has cast doubt on their admissions.
Russian authorities were immediately skeptical of the U.S.’s apparent rush to pin the blame on ISIS after the group took responsibility for the attack without providing proof. Both Ukraine and the U.S. have denied any involvement. In addition, American officials revealed that they had warned Moscow about an
impending threat well in advance.
The U.S. insists that Russia’s allegations are unfounded. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said: “Russia knows that it was ISIS who committed the attack in Moscow, we know it was ISIS who committed the attack in Moscow.”
He added: “We warned Russia of an impending terrorist attack in Moscow, and all the rest of this is noise.”
