White House aides and staffers of President Joe Biden's reelection campaign are reportedly feeling "miserable" as they face a bevy of challenges ahead of the presidential election. Axios reported on July 5 that morale is low among White House staff members as communications with top officials crumble. "Everyone is miserable, and senior advisers are a total black hole," an unnamed White House official told Axios. "Even if you're trying to focus on work, nothing is going to break through or get any acknowledgment [from your superiors]." All eyes are on Biden to prove that he is competent enough to campaign against former President Donald Trump as major Democratic Party donors pressure him to drop out in favor of a younger candidate. (Related: Calls to replace Biden gain momentum as big donors bail on the puppet they installed.) Axios reported remarks from a "high-ranking Democratic National Committee [DNC] official" who said, "The only thing that can really allay concerns is for the president to demonstrate that he's capable of running this campaign." "Everything else feels like 'Weekend at Bernie's' by his inner circle to prop him up." Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted a barbecue for military service members on July 4. After he finished his speech, the crowd started shouting, "We need you," to which Biden responded, "You got me, man. I'm not going anywhere."

Calls for Biden to give up reelection bid keep getting louder

Democratic officials are worried that Biden may not be able to sustain his campaign. Calls for Biden to give up his reelection bid grew louder on July 4, especially from major donors. Doubts are also increasing inside the White House. Some Biden aides think those closest to the president have made a cocoon around him that at first appeared earnestly protective, but now seems deceitful in the debate's aftermath. They specifically named Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, the first lady's top adviser Anthony Bernal and longtime aide Ashley Williams, who joined the deputy chief of staff's office when Tomasini was elevated to the role early this year. "Annie, Ashley and Anthony create a protective bubble around POTUS. He's staffed so closely that he's lost all independence. POTUS relies on staff to nudge him with reminders of who he's meeting, including former staffers and advisers who Biden should easily remember without a reminder from Annie," a former Biden aide told Axios in an interview. Biden's senior aides and top Democratic officials are still trying to salvage his campaign. "Ninety minutes doesn't define a presidency. President Biden has given us three-and-a-half years of extraordinary accomplishments and he made clear to every Democratic staffer who's working to get him reelected that he's all in for four more," DNC Executive Director Sam Cornale said in a statement to Axios. Campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz also stated that "there's an immense sense of pride across our office." Follow JoeBiden.news for more stories about President Biden's declining mental condition.
