Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.), who has now suspended his candidacy, says the Democrats have no platform and are united only by their hatred of former President Donald Trump. On Aug. 23, the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy announced that he would suspend his presidential campaign. Hours after the announcement, he joined Trump during the latter's Arizona campaign rally and expressed support toward the Republican presidential nominee. RFK Jr. also addressed the audience at the rally, explaining his decision to yield to Trump. He addressed the audience: "The DNC [Democratic National Committee] and its media organs engineered a surge of popularity for [Vice President Kamala] Harris based upon nothing. No policies, no interviews, no debates – only smoke and mirrors. "A Chicago circus that is based on nothing. Who needs a policy if you hate Donald Trump? "How did the Democratic Party choose a candidate that has never done an interview or debate during the entire election cycle? We know the answer. They did it by weaponizing the government agencies. They did it by abandoning democracy. They did it by suing the opposition and by disenfranchising American voters. "What most alarms me isn't how the Democratic Party conducts its internal affairs or runs its candidates. What alarms me is the resort to censorship and media control and the weaponization of the federal agencies." RFK Jr. ultimately noted that the Democratic Party has turned into a party embracing "war, censorship, corruption, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big [Agriculture] and big money." He also accused them of "wanting to abandon democracy by canceling the primary to conceal the cognitive decline" of incumbent President Joe Biden. The candidate cited free speech, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and "a war on our children" as the reasons he would try to remove his name from the ballot in battleground states. Dems now want to KEEP RFK Jr. on the ballot to hurt Trump

In an Aug. 23 piece on American Greatness, Richard Truesdell and Keith Lehmann outlined that the 2024 race "is about to take its next unexpected turn." According to the two, the Democrats were terrified of RFK Jr.'s candidacy "so they rigged the rules, banned him from state ballots, and vilified him as extreme." But following his announcement, they predicted that Democrats will now fight to keep him on the ballots to hurt Trump. Truesdell and Lehmann mentioned in their piece that RFK Jr. "was never a serious candidate" despite having a famous name, a tinge of legitimacy and a wealthy running mate in the person of Nicole Shanahan. While it wasn't enough for him to reach office, it made him a viable Democratic nominee. However, Democrat insiders shunned RFK Jr. to prop up Biden, leading to RFK Jr. continuing his run as an independent. Biden later withdrew his quest for a second term, leaving the Democrats with Harris – which Truesdell and Lehmann called the 81-year-old's "insurance policy." The two wrote that RFK Jr.'s endorsement of Trump serves as a "stunning rebuke" to the Democratic Party that is linked to his family's legacy. But the independent candidate himself said he realized he shared more in common with the real estate mogul than he thought, after a series of meetings with Trump and his team. "In a series of long, intense discussions, I was surprised to discover that we are aligned on many key issues. In those meetings, he suggested that we join forces as a unity party," he said. "We talked about Abraham Lincoln's team of rivals. That arrangement would allow us to disagree publicly and privately and fiercely if need be on issues over which we differ while working together on the existential issues upon which we are in concordance."
