A recent Napolitan Institute poll has revealed troubling signs of desensitization among Democrats in the wake of the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, revealing that 28 percent believe that it would have been beneficial for the U.S. if the attempt had succeeded. The survey, conducted days after the second assassination attempt among 1,ooo registered voters, found that 17 percent of voters believe the United States would be better off if the attempt had succeeded. Another 24 percent were unsure and only 48 percent definitively said that America would not have been better off had the former president been killed. Moreover, 51 percent of Democrats believe there is no need to increase the security detail of Trump despite the gravity of two assassination attempts in recent months. In contrast, a majority of voters across the political spectrum (62 percent) believe his security should be strengthened, though 32 percent disagree. "It is hard to imagine a greater threat to democracy than expressing a desire to have your political opponent murdered," Scott Rasmussen, president of RMG Research, said with deep concern over the results. (Related: Poll: 28% of Democrats approve of Trump assassination, 51% don't see need for increased security.) The poll also revealed a stark divide in who voters suspect is behind the assassination attempts. For instance, 49 percent of Democrats think it is at least somewhat likely that Trump or his campaign was involved in orchestrating the attack, with 21 percent deeming it "very likely." Among Republicans, 52 percent suspect the Democratic Party or Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign may have played a role, with 28 percent calling it "very likely." "I continue to believe that America's best days are still to come. However, for years I've been saying that things will get worse before they get better. These numbers suggest that the phase of getting worse is clearly upon us," Rasmussen said while reflecting on the results.

Democrats publicly scheming to deprive Trump of presidency even if he wins in November

Adding to the tension, figures like Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) have made headlines when he suggested that the Democratic Party could invoke the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump from the 2024 election, even if he secures enough votes to win. "And so [the court] want to kick it to Congress, so it's going to be up to us on Jan. 6, 2025, to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he's disqualified," Raskin said in a panel discussion as the Supreme Court was mulling the constitutionality of the leftist Colorado secretary of state's use of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to remove Trump from the state's presidential primary ballot. "And then we need bodyguards for everybody and civil war conditions all because nine justices – not all of them, but these justices who have not many cases to look at every year, not much work to do, have a huge staff, great protection – simply do not want to do their job and interpret what the great 14th Amendment means," Raskin declared at a Washington, D.C. bookstore gathering of leftists. In response, independent journalist Ben Bartee wrote: "Beyond just being brazenly anti-democratic, this is also flirting with civil war – which Raskin acknowledges himself when he demands bodyguards and predicts "civil war conditions" once they steal it (again)."
